Active Holiday in Porec

If you are an avid cycler, Poreč is the destination for you. Those who love nature will surely equally enjoy the bike paths which stretch along the seashore as well as those which go through the rural hinterland, Mediterranean forests, alongside the ruins of castles, prehistoric hill forts, churches and rustic villas.
You can tour the city of Poreč by bike, stop and rest by touring the immense Euphrasian Basilica but also head towards trails that will uncover Istria’s natural beauty and lead you to the mysterious underground world of the Baredine Caves. The pleasure of cycling can surely be found on the trail that the professional cyclists whizzed through on the second section of the world elite race, the Giro d'Italia.
As early as the winter months when travelling in Istria you will see cycling teams taking advantage of the favourable climate for training programs. Well-marked routes are at the disposal of all cyclists, who can choose easier or more challenging routes based on their ability.
During your stay in Poreč you can try one of numerous races, from recreational to professional as rated on the World Cycling Federation calendar.

Walking, trekking or simply strolling is the best way to get to know and see Poreč, its old city centre, the entire Riviera and stay in excellent physical shape. An active holiday in contact with nature will positively affect your health and mood and is recommended for all ages.
Poreč is filled with walking paths and thanks to long promenades in the shade of pine trees all romantic strollers will find their place on benches along the sea stretching from the city centre to Plava Laguna. If you have the strength you can continue your walk further along towards Zelena Laguna and discover Poreč’s idyllic lagoons and small coves.
For recreationists with insatiable spirits, a trail on the northern side of Poreč stretches from the recreational zone to Materada where you can walk in the fresh air while being caressed by a sea breeze.

Sea activities

Sea lovers will surely not be bored in Poreč, especially if they are entrepreneurially-spirited. The beauty of the Adriatic Sea and underwater environment can be explored year-round. Alongside the flora and fauna of the sea hidden amongst the underwater reefs and caves, you can also tour the silent world of shipwrecks.
Diving centres are well-equipped for organising and leading diving expeditions at attractive locations and for providing diving assistance. During the summer diving schools are organised and if necessary can take on larger groups of divers.
Along the coast from Lanterna to Poreč and Zelena Laguna (Green Lagoon) there are a number of sports centres where it is possible to rent sailboats, paddle-boats and motorboats, beach canoes, pedal-boats, jet skis and windsurfing boards. It is also possible to rent all necessary beach equipment and also go waterskiing with the help of a cableway. Those who are more agile can go waterskiing while being pulled by a motorboat.
The sea area around Poreč is an excellent area for sports fishing, either angling or underwater spear-gun fishing. Angling is done from the shore or from a boat in shallow waters near shoals.
